JOIN THE DEBATE
Myself and my power team at Pack It In are exploring identity, culture, ethnicity, integration, segregation and everything else that makes up our complex world.
The biggest question of all is WHO ARE YOU?
How would you describe your identity?
If you have any interesting stories, anecdotes, personal references, films, photography, music, poetry or writing that may help us to explore IDENTITY get in touch and JOIN THE DEBATE.
The Pack It In team are currently looking for interesting individuals who will strengthen our debate and assist us with the development of a documentary exploring race and identity.

…The world is black and white,
ReplyDeleteBut every thing else is not,
So why not paint a brown face on a white canvas,
because there is more to see than a race…
Whilst watching broken silence a few days ago, I felt that alot of the points made were really interesting. Now I being a pakistani, muslim girl have never really been racially abused. However I have been more singled out by the asians. I think that white people can be racist but alot of the time this is because they REALLY are ignorant. Some don't even have a clue about themselves never mind others. However I do think asians where I live are alot more racist compared to the white people. You see we know how the white majority live, their lifestlye etc and we tend to dislike them for this when most of the asians do the same, maybe not to that extent. I personally think being british is about learning from other peoples lifestyles and making positive changes within yourself. Some people think being british is being white or trying to be white which isn't the case.
ReplyDeleteI think everyones parents should teach them to be tolerant and respect all cultures and religions. And if this isn't taught to you at home I think its each individauls responsabilty to at least question something they are not sure of rather than jumping to conclusions.
